Savre is one of the Breakout Stars of Tyler Perry’s Political Dramaon TLC.
Let’s face it, the twists and turns of Washington D.C. politics has the country mesmerized. And in the latest case of art imitating life, Tyler Perry’s newest drama, ‘Too Close To Home’ combines all the intrigue, love and sex you would expect from a primetime series. The show’s smart and beautiful leading lady singer Danielle Savre sat down with me to talk about the explosive season finale, her character and her burgeoning career.
On the show, Savre plays Anna Hayes, a White House staffer, who is forced to return to her old life in Alabama when her scandalous affair with the President goes public. The Season 2 finale aired on Wednesday night 2/22 and Savre shared secrets from the set and what’s in store for the cast with us.
The California native’s character is in the middle of a love triangle between her ex-boyfriend, Brock O’Hurn played by Brody Allen who has feelings for Anna’s eldest sister, Bonnie Hayes. While this sibling rivalry plays out, her former lover, the President of the United States, is trying to get Anna back to Washington D.C. as the First Lady, played by the incomproble Heather Locklear, does everything in her power to stop him.
When we asked Savre if she could relate to her character Ana, she said “Absolutely.” “Just like me, she’s from a small town and has had to overcome challenges and family issues, while trying to find her place in the world. We’ve all been there.” It’s that reliability that makes us such a big fan of Savre as an actress.
The singer and actor was no overnight success. She has worked from the bottom to the top and that’s why we love her even more! Savre also let us know what’s it’s like working with Mr. Tyler Perry himself and how Heather Locklear may play the show’s villain, but is actually the most genuine and nicest people she has ever met in her professional and personal life.
Her She Prepared For The Role
When asked how she prepared for a drama-filled role such as Anna, Savre told us that it’s all about relating to the character and taking your life experiences and channeling it into the character and the expression of the work.
Portraying Anna has been very therapeutic for the actor. She added, “You get to relive those moments and when you’re done with them, you’re able to let them go and be at with them. It’s nice to know you have some power and control…recognize it and then work through it.”
A Long Winding Road to Stardom
Savre has appeared in several television shows including, The X-Files, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Charmed. She had a recurring role on the television show Summerland as Callie, and the NBC series Heroes.
When she wasn’t on set, she was probably working on her singing career, including as a member of the girl group Trinity. We have to admit, we loved Trinity and the group was one of our sweet obsessions.
